MULBERRY GROVE SCHOOL
AOTEA GREAT BARRIER ISLAND
Sea Education Aotea Charitable Trust
The Sea Education Aotea Charitable Trust was established in 2004 and aims to take advantage of the unique waterside character of Mulberry Grove School and Tryphena Harbour by training children and young people on Great Barrier island in all aspects of water craft and water safety.
The Sea Academy is connected to Mulberry Grove School and runs a summertime aquatics programme that provides the basis for our school's Health and Physical Wellbeing learning in Terms 1 and 4 of each school year.
The SEA Trust employs a coordinator to help run the day to day programme organisation. This includes managing volunteers, organising training for volunteers, running workshops and ensuring safety protocols are adhered to, water ratios maintained and that the kids are learning valuable skills and having a wonderful time. What a lucky school to have the water on our doorstep and this fabulous programme on offer to our students.
