Mulberry Grove School has officially opened its new technology, art and science space, Rangiarua – Te Whare Auaha (The House of Innovation and Creativity). The building sits along the shoreline beside the recently refurbished basketball court, giving the school a modern, purpose-built area for hands-on learning.
The new space brings together facilities for tech, art and science projects that were previously spread across improvised corners of the school. The building features timber shading, black steel cladding, and a layout designed to give students room to work on practical projects without crowding existing classrooms.
The grand opening & blessing by local iwi kaumatua was held on November 18th 2025.
Mulberry Grove School would like to achnowledge the generous support of the Aotea Great Barrier Island Local board for funding the refurbishment of our courts and the grant to purchase our combination basketball, netball hoops.
Good things take time, and we are excited to celebrate the completion of our basketball and netball hoop installation. This marks the finishing touch to our court refurbishment project, creating a fantastic space for both our students and the wider community.
The children are already making great use of the courts—shooting hoops at break times, before and after school, and even on the weekends. Their excitement and energy show just how valuable this new space will be.
As we look forward to better weather, we warmly invite whānau and community members to enjoy the courts as well. Whether it’s a casual game, some extra practice, or simply time spent being active together, the courts are open for all.
Ngā mihi nui to everyone who supported this project—your contribution has helped us create a lasting resource for our community.
